How are non-EU companies being impacted by the EU’s new sustainability legislation

You are invited to participate in important ESG focus group interviews with Ramboll, in partnership with Danish Industry (DI)

We are pleased to extend an invitation to you and your esteemed organisation to participate in a pivotal discussion on: Understanding how non-EU companies are impacted by the EU’s new sustainability legislation and multinational companies’ increased focus on sustainability.

Importantly, what does this mean for South African companies?

Non-EU companies operating within European value chains are facing increasing expectations to meet various sustainability criteria. This is a critical juncture where companies face both challenges and opportunities stemming from regulation.

Some of the key legislation, amongst others, includes the EU’s:

  • Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD)
  • Taxonomy and Deforestation Regulation (EUDR)
  • Conflict Mineral Regulation
  • Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)
  • Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) and Forced Ban Regulation (both forthcoming)

Why is this important?

As a member of the National Business Initiative (NBI) and/or Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), your insights and experiences are invaluable in navigating our understanding of these complex issues. Danish Industry (DI), our long-standing partner, in partnership with Ramboll, will be conducting a comprehensive cross-border study, aimed at providing insights into the awareness, challenges and opportunities faced by companies.

To facilitate this study, we have circulated a survey designed to gather crucial insights. We kindly ask for your participation in this survey, which will take no more than 10 minutes to complete. If you haven’t completed the survey already, please click here to complete. The survey will close on 10 May 2024.

Have your say, join our Focus Group Discussions…

In addition to the survey, Ramboll would like to invite you to join us for focus group discussions where we will delve deeper into the issues raised by the survey results. These discussions aim to foster an environment of knowledge sharing and collaboration, allowing participants to gain deeper insights and perspectives from industry peers.

Please RSVP below and mark your calendars for the focus group discussions, scheduled for the 15th of May 2024, from 09:00 to 15:00. We eagerly anticipate your continued participation and contribution to this vital discourse
