BUSA convened its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 30th August 2021. The terms of office of the organisation’s President and Vice-President came to an end at the AGM and we wish Sipho Pityana and Martin Kingston respectively farewell. The AGM recognised and applauded their sterling contribution to BUSA and organised business.
The AGM unanimously elected
Professor Bonang Mohale as the new President of BUSA and Adrian Gore as the new Vice-President. Bonang Mohale has held executive positions at various organisations such as Shell SA, Sanlam, SAA, Drake & Scull, OTIS(SA) and currently serves as the Chancellor of the University of the Free state and the Chairman of the Bidvest Group Limited. He also served as the CEO of Business Leadership SA.
Adrian Gore is the founder and CEO of South Africa’s leading medical insurer, Discovery Holdings, a businessman and entrepreneur.
They both come with impeccable credentials and possess the organisational and strategic experience and skills critical for business and the country. They join the organisation at a critical time in our country. SA is facing an economic and social crisis, with a stagnant economy, a fiscal deficit, high unemployment, significant poverty and inequality. We also faced a significant crisis of instability and unrest over a month ago, with a great deal of damage to property, loss of lives and racial tensions. We are also amid a 3rd wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
We thank Sipho Pityana and Martin Kingston for their hard work to reposition the organisation as a credible voice of business.
We are confident that the new BUSA leadership will build continue with the excellent efforts demonstrated by Sipho and Martin, but will add their own dynamism, experience, and wisdom.
